The Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water Every Morning

You may have heard of the starting your day with a warm glass of water with lemon in it every morning. Have you wondered about all the hype surrounding this? Is it a trend? What are the health benefits?

This practice is not just another trend at all. In fact, this morning ritual dates back thousands of years as a part of Ayurvedic medicine, in which the thinking is that choices that you make regarding your daily routine either enhance your body’s resistance to disease or hurt it. This ancient Indian philosophy suggests we should start our day with a practice, like warm water and lemon, that helps in fostering self-discipline, encourages internal balance and alkalinizes the body to prime it for what lies ahead in the day.

Having that tart glass of citrus, will also keep you glowing from the inside out…literally! It encourages you to slow down, which I think we all could do a little bit more of, and enforces that self-disciple that helps you keep on track to your health goals.

Let me break down for you how this simple choice can benefit your body’s detoxifying processes encouraging weight loss and help your skin be radiant.

  1. Helps in stimulating digestion: By ingesting something gentle and warm first thing in the morning, your gastrointestinal system is stimulated after being dormant all night long. Intestinal muscle contractions are encouraged, gastric juices get flowing and the system is primed for your breakfast. The addition of lemon provides minerals that help in the removal of built up toxins that impede weight loss and contribute to bloating.
  2. Keeps you slim: As mentioned above, this ritual can help with weight loss. The alkalinity of lemons enhances an internal environment that support weight loss and their high pectin fibre content helps in fighting cravings. Lemons are also a natural diuretic; therefore, assist is removal of gas thereby reducing bloating.
